I have 2 CD drives on my computer and I want to put some movies from my PC on to DVD so that I can watch them on my TV using a DVD player.
I don't know whether I have a drive that is able to burn a movie to a blank DVD though and was wondering how I would be able to check whether I have one or not.
You can either look on the front of the drive, looking for the DVD Rom and RW logos. Or, you can look in the Device Manager under DVD/CDROM drives. Your drives will be listed there, and it will tell you if it's DVDRW.
I believe that, in order to be able to view a DVD on a home DVD player, having a DVD Recorder in your PC is only half of the equation; the other half being that you'll also need some kind of DVD Authoring software in order to create a DVD that will work on your Player.
In case there's no DVD Recorder in your PC but you do have a CD Recorder, another option for you (in case the size of your movies permit it AND your DVD Player supports VCDs) is to create Video CDs instead.
