3647 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mittal_pali
im running win xp through bootcamp on a mac, yesterday i discovered that my hotmail account had been using to send spam to all my contatcs(evidence in my sent folder).

This is the first time iv had this happen to me, how could my hotmail account have been compromised?could my password have been hacked? or is there another way they gained access to my account?

I have since changed my password but i doubt that will be enough, i do not want to have to make a new accoutn and keep this one what should i do?

I would recommend scanning your system (full Scan) spyware and malware using your current anti virus program.
I don't think that your password was hacked. Perhaps your system has been infected with malware / spyware. You can find a lot of free programs on internet who can help you to scan your PC. Just search "anti malware", "anti spyware" on google.
You could have opened a harmless attachment in your Email and it would have infected your PC partition. The virus attaches to your Email contacts and starts sending out Spam behind your back. First thing to do is to change your password in Hotmail.
We cannot help you with malware removal here due to forum rules. Please click on the link in my signature for Spyware Help and post there for more help.
Change password at regular intervals.
