Hi
Currently have 2 computers on my home network, Host and client.

Host computer is connected to the internet through a ADSl modem.

Client computer is connect through a Switch

The problem im having is a rather sparadic one.

Sometime the client computer can use the internet feely no probs, the suddenly it wont work. well it will but will only connect to 1 website.

Every other site returns "page cannot be found"

I try pinging othersites but it just says "source cannot be found"

If i try and ping the website that is working, it comes up with "request timed out"

The client can see the shared internet connection and its connected. Other applications dont work, except, now it gets funnier, Teaspeak, which is programm which allows you to talk live to opther people, this works fine and requires net access to use (was talking to people over the net).

Im at a loss how it can work one moment and not the next and is very frustrating (been living with this problem on-off for about 3 months.

The network was set-up using the XP wizard.

Both computers run xp

I suggest you lose ICS, which will give you heartburn forever, and pick up an Ethernet equipped broadband modem and a router.

ICS = Internet Connection Sharing.

It does work, but is not easy to work with and can give real headaches.

If your modem has an ethernet port, a small inexpensive wireless router, which usually has 4 wired ethernet connections, is a much easier and more flexible solution for many.

You may be having some issues with DHCP with your current configuration?
