i was about to leave for the day and stepped away from my computer after logging off when 10 min later, when i was standing in front of the crt, i heard my modem come to life. i let it roll as i accessed my firewall to see what was happening. it was logging on to AOL with the help of those famous AOL gremlins.

the source ip was:

login.oscar.aol.com [205.188.179.233] and my computer was being set up for an outward transmission.

i bounce between netscape 7.1 and explorer 6.x. i do not use aol as an internet service provider.

1)what was happening
2)how do i stop it from happening again

thx

You say you don't use AOL as an ISP...why not just uninstall AOL?
