Ok, here's my problem:


I download alot of hd content from sites like quicksilverscreen, icefilms and various others and for some reason my computer can't seem to fast forward the movie once it's started. The programs I've used are vlc player, wmp and even the divx player.

They all play the movie but when I grab the slider at the bottom and move it forward say 30 minutes the program freezes up for approx 5-10 minutes and then will eventually play the movie 30 minutes into the picture. Why does this happen? Can anyone shed some light on this? Could it be too many codecs installed? I've download a bunch in the past and tried shark007 today.

Please help.

Yeah, tried that one too and the program still freezes up.

I guess this computer at work isn't powerful enough for hd flicks.

many hi def videos are encoded with a high bitrate to improve quality - unfortunately many computers are not able to cope with the high bitrates resulting in jerky playback, stuttering and, as you have experienced, freezing when you try to use the seek feature
