It appears that commctrl.dll & comctl32.dll are replaced when the laserjet is installed. Anyone got an answer

Assuming that the Hp file-version is older than the file it overwrote, you can always extract the file from either a backup location on your hard drive (like the \Windows\Sysbackup folder), or from a Windows installation disk. If you are running a version of IE earlier than IE 5.5 or 6, you might get a newer version of the file by updating to a newer version IE (you can't update a Win9x/Me system to IE7 however - 6 is the most recent version that is still compatible with Win9x/Me).
