My computer wouldn't turn on. I did everything I knew to do and it still wouldn't come on. I took it to a computer store to get tested. The guy there tells me that my motherboard and CPU are both fried. The computer has a stamp on the inside that says April 1999. It is a Compaq Presario 5070. The CPU is an AMD. The best advice he could give me was that it wasn't worth replacing the motherboard and CPU, but that it would be better to just buy a new computer. The problem with that is that I would have to find a computer that is compatible with my additional hardware (example I have a HP cd writer that is internal). I really don't know what to do. Any views on this? I don't even know how much another motherboard would be or another CPU. The guy told me that they were obsolete with the meaning that I'd be lucky if I could find a new replacement motherboard for my computer. Ok, need some advice here. Any opinion would be appreciated. Thanks.
