ever time i minamize a window i can't find it at the bottom. i have to open the task manger to find it. i'm running windows 7

Have you tried a system restore to a date prior to this behavior?

Is the Task Bar visible? Can you right click the Task Bar and choose Properties? First uncheck Lock Task Bar. See if Auto Hide Task Bar is checked. There are other options for the task bar here as well.
