I'm not very computer savvy so i would appreciate any help. My home computer will not open up. When i boot up it goes to the background wallpaper but nothing else comes up. I reboot and it does the same thing...?

Restart the machine and press F8 before Windows begins to load. You should get to a alternate boot menu where you can select Safe Mode. See if you're able to boot to Windows using that option.

When you get to the Desktop (background wallpaper) press CTRL+ALT+DEL and start the Task Manager. Go up to File/New Task (run) and type explorer.exe and press enter. You should get your desktop with all the icons back. Now do a System Restore to a time before this happened.
