Yesterday my computer was working fine, now I fire it up today and it loads like normal, but after it says its loading my settings and the music comes on nothing on the desktop shows up. No icons, no taskbar, can't right click to get into settings yet I can still move around my mouse and alt-ctrl-del to task manager. I'm on the computer right now only because I opened the help topics in task manager and found an option to get on the net. If you have any idea what I can do to fix this or what is causing this to happen please reply, I'll be waiting for the next couple of hours while I download a virus scanner to check my files.

I have 512 DDR, GeForce 4 Ti4200, KT333 Dragon Lite, dual 300 power supplies, AMD 1800+, SB PCI 512.

Also the default screensaver comes on after one minute which is not what I set it to. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I also noticed that when I go to some webpages I get this error:

"Warning: Failed opening '/export/http/forum/docs/languages/deleted/generic.php' for inclusion (include_path='/export/http/forum/include:.:/export/http/include:/export/http/docs') in /export/http/forum/docs/main.inc.php on line 41

Fatal error: Failed opening required 'languages//wwwthreads.php' (include_path='/export/http/forum/include:.:/export/http/include:/export/http/docs') in /export/http/forum/docs/wwwthreads.php on line 11"

Sound like any virus you all know about? I mean I don't feel like reinstalling windows for the 5th time thus losing more stuff that I'd like to save. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I don't know that this is a virus, but since you can bring up task manager, try running explorer from the File/Run menu in Task Manager. This will allow you to copy any critical files to backups before anything happens to them.

After you backup critical files (you should do this before problems happen!), boot the CD and do a system repair, that may beat it into submission.
