i bought a hd for my laptop and i bought a cloning software but none of them seem to work. they where clonezilla which say i need to make it a boot disk and i have not been able to do that, Acronis*True*Image*Home 2009 a say it works but it say every sector is unreadable and then completes the program by saying it is an unvalid format. so is there a cloning software that works and is free or cheap. as i try to deal with the people who sold it to me do not know what they are doing with america software. my computer is toshiba xp home and the hd made a hickup and i was trying to prepair for the upcoming crash. i do not have a recovery disk so it was a alturnative solution.

If you can boot your computer into Windows, go to Start/Run and type CMD and hit enter. In the command prompt type chkdsk /f/r and hit enter. Now type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will try and make the sectors readable. When using Acronis be sure the Source Drive (the drive you are trying to Clone) is the laptop HDD, not the blank HDD (you want to clone to). If Acronis isn't working for you, then burn Clonezilla's image with imgburn and boot off of the disc you made.
