I just bought a second hard drive for extra storage but windows won't recognize that drive for some reason. It's a Seagate 160GB hard dive. It'll recognize it in the BIOs as a slave and what not, but when windows loads it's not there. It's not a serial ata drive and I'm using an ASUS A8V mother board. Any ideas?

PS Is a serial ata drive the same thing as SATA drive?

If this is a new drive, you will have to enable it. Go start>programs>administrative tools>Computer management>disk management. There you can see the drive and enable or allocate or partition or format or whatever you like to get it to be seen and useable.
A Serial-ATA is the same thing as a SATA drive.
