Help with G4 to OS9 please

900 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  sinclair_tm
Hi, I have been using Blueprint CAD on an old mac Power PC I now have a G4 tower so that I can transfer the cad files via usb. I need the G4 to start in OS9 so clicked on the hard drive, OS9 and restarted but now have a Floppy with an X flashing and need help to sort this out.

The second situation I need help with is corrupted floppy disc. Need a name of a company that can recover if possible. The drawings are coming up with PC in place of Blueprint on the icon.

thanks in advance

What G4 are you using? Not all G4's could boot OS 9. Also, not all OS 9 installs are bootable. Some OS 9 installs were only for Classic Mode. I'm guessing the G4 you are using is running OS X, and if there is OS 9 installed on it, it should run Classic Mode, which I would recommend anyway. As for your disk showing PC instead of the Blueprint icon, it's not becasue the disk is corrupt, it's because the Mac you stuck it in doesn't recognize Blueprint files, so it just assumes they are files for software that runs on a PC.
Hi, Thanks for that. The G4 is a Power mac tower, Power mac 3.6. CPU Power PC G4 93.3)

I would like to boot in os9, I do not need OSX.

Re the discs. Unfortunately the disc is being put into the machine that generated it in blueprint

thanks in advance
It could be that the file type has been reassigned. Open the program and then use the open command to open the file to see if it works.

As for the Mac, it can boot into OS 9.2.2. Do you know what version of OS 9 it has? Any older version would not work.
