Epson R300 prints great if used through network. When connected via USB to laptop it will not print. There are no error messages just silence when sent to print. Laptop is Gateway running Windows 8.1 with USB2.

Have you installed the drivers on your laptop for the printer? Also you can try going to start settings devices and change the printer to usb instead of network, after you have install the printers usb drivers.

I did as follows: 1) connected the printer to my laptop's USB port 2) turned on the printer 3) went to Devices & Printers 4) clicked on Add a Printer 5) clicked Add a local printer 6) clicked Use port USB001 Virtual printer port for USB 7) Selected Epson Stylus Photo R300 and the computer installed the driver automatically. The printer then showed up in Devices and Printers as the default printer. It shows 0 documents in queue even though I have tried to send a test page and Word documents to print. Please let me know what I have done wrong. Sorry about the length but I wanted to let you know the steps I had tried. Thanks

do you have the disk that came with the printer if so follow this guide on how to install. i would uninstall the printer software from programs and features and driver from device manager and start over. following the guide.

when you install the printer it would give you the option to select usb or wireless.

if you are still having problems with printer remove the software control panel, programs and features. then remove all epson software.

reboot

download the latest drivers. install then run the usb setup first.

I recently moved so finding installation disks would probably be impossible. But I don't understand - if the printer works great through the network why would I have to reinstall it to use it with the USB port. Just trying to understand why. Thanks for the help!

Thanks! I went there and it says Printer driver 10/25/12 for Windows 8.1 64 bit. This would be good, I think, but I do not see a download button anywhere. I checked the "More info" portion and the Driver section and there's no download button.

My mistake windows already has the driver their is no dowload. But their is for utilities

I would uninstal all Epson printer stuff from programs and feature and remove printer from devices. Then try adding new printer.
