My friend has a problem with winxp.It boots as far as the background then stops.Can't restore to earlier reg.Any syggestions are welcome

Try booting into AFE mode and reun system restore from there

If this fails try System restore from a Command Prompt.

I am using a M$ keyboard so at least I can blame them.

It is hard work using a standard keyboard all day and then coming home to a M$ Natural keyboard.
