My friend has a computer that worked at one point. It's kind of an old computer, and the video quality was poor, so I offered to install a video card I had lying around into his computer.
I unhooked it and opened it up, only to discover that there was no AGP slot for my video card. And there was only one PCI slot, and it was being used by a NIC card. The only video useable was integraded video. So I sealed it back up and hooked it up again.
Now it won't boot. Well, I can turn the computer on, the power supply will whirr to life, the CPU cooling fan works, but I don't hear any beep codes or noises other than the power supply whirring, and no text appears on the monitor, nothing at all. It's just a blank screen. It flickers for a moment when I turn on the computer, but then it just fades down to a black screen, and it just stays like that.
Has anyone else ever had this problem? Does anyone know what might be causing this? I have a feeling it might have something to do with the CPU as it might have been knocked around a bit by a friend who was doing some stuff with it... but he said the only thing he messed with was the CPU, and to clear his name he took apart the cooling fan from the CPU, made sure everything was put in right and put it together again.
Please help!
