Okay, I am having a serious couple of problems with my new pc I built...


Problem #1:
I bought Windows 7 brand new, and my USB plugs werent working on the back.. so my dumb friend went through bios, and shut off "Legacy USB", to see if it would work... Now I don't have USB to get into bios to turn it back on... Tried a PS2 adapter, but it didn't work.. Any idea how to fix this?

Problem #2:
Every couple of times I start up the computer, it goes to this screen;

When I goto device manager, it has an exclamation point for my USB interface or whatever.. I try to update drivers, but it doesnt find anything.. I installed the drivers from my mobo disk.

Try clearing the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways To Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

That should restore that Legacy USB setting.

If the back USB ports don't work, but the front ones do, you may be seeing a motherboard problem. I'd suggest you RMA the board while it's still under warranty.

Finally, run a couple of hardware tests, starting with Memtest86: RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Forums

The other is SeaTools for DOS, for the hard drive.

why do you need a mouse to get into (and change settings) bios?
have you tried updating your chipset drivers? (from the mfgr)

I dont need a mouse, I need a keyboard.. which is USB.

Clearing the CMOS will most likely restore the default settings of the BIOS. Clear the CMOS and see if you are able to use your keyboard. On the other problem you have, try performing a check disk repair and see if this helps resolve the issue.

Btw, do I leave the PC plugged in to remove the CMOS battery? Because I tried it before, with the PC unplugged, and it didn't reset anything.

Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to reset my BIOS using the CMOS battery technique please.

try option #3 , unplug the pc, hold the power button on for 10 seconds then remove the battery, blow it off and put it back in....say three hale marys......lol
