I have ran Ad-aware, Spybot S&D, ewido (in safe mode and not in safe mode), cleanup (in safe mode), and panda active scan. They did find a few things, but other problems were not fixed... i still get pop ups from an "http://ad.oinadserver.com/..." about every 5 minutes.

after running activescan there were 3 spyware problems, 2 of which i were able to find and delete manually. the 3rd was C:\program files\rsmr\hrit.exe which i was not able to delete, when draggin the entire folder (rsmr) to the recycle bin i was prompted with an error:

Cannot delete hrit.exe: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected
and that the file is not currently in use.
OK

in safe mode i dragged the 'rsmr' folder to the recycle bin, emptied it, (it appeared to be gone!) restarted my computer, opened up program files
annnddddddd...
its stillllll there. after attempting to delete it again, i was prompted with the same error as above.

Im quiet frusturated that my new laptop ive saved up for life to buy, already has an annoying problem. any directions on what to do would be MUCH appreciated. MUCH MUCH MUCH.

here is my HJT log:

Please print out or save this page to your desktop in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

Boot Into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

View Hidden Files and Folders
Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Potential Uninstallations
Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs:
Viewpoint Manager

Start HijackThis Fix
Open Hijack This and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {404F969B-595E-5D8D-28B2-0695CAF088C2} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xox.dll (file missing)

Hello rhornbeck5964,

Yes, there is more to do.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this.

Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet.

Please make sure the following is still in effect:

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading:
* select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Viewpoint
rsmr

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Haos] "C:\Program Files\rsmr\hrit.exe" -vt ndrv
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Gtpk] C:\WINDOWS\system32\m?config.exe

Delete the following Files and Folders if they still exist.

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint
C:\Program Files\rsmr
C:\WINDOWS\system32\m?config.exe <--Be careful here. Before deleting this file, right click on it and make sure that it is NOT from Microsoft. If it is fom Microsoft, leave it alone and look for another instance of the file in that folder

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Standard CleanUp!"
*Uncheck the following:
-Delete Newsgroup cache
-Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
-Scan local drives for temporary files
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.
Note: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! If you have a 64 bit Operating System do NOT run Cleanup and let me know as we will use another utility

From Normal Mode:

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm *Requires Internet Explorer.
Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Free use Activescan header. We do NOT want the default spyXposer scan.
  1. Click on the Scan your PC button & a 'pop up' window shall appear. * ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
  2. Click On 'Scan Now'
  3. Enter your e-mail address & click 'Scan Now' ...begins downloading Panda's ActiveX controls.- 8MB
  4. Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
    * You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
  5. If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Click on see report
  6. Then click Save report
  7. Post the contents of the report in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online
