Help! can someone Help! before i throw this out the window

hello all, i have a hp pavilion zv5000. i cant get the darn sound to work. ive reinstalled windows, downloaded drivers, and i cant seem to get sound out the speakers or headphone jack. can someone she some light on how i can get the sound to work. im about to throw this thing out the window.
