Help! Bsod: Irql_not_less_or_equal

I've been using my Dell XPS 400 for about 3 years. all of a sudden while running adobe photoshop cs4. everything froze and i got a whole lot of errors. i restarted and explorer.exe didnt open up and i got a lot of errors still. then the next day i tried it again and i got the "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" Blue screen on start up. Ive been told to run the recovery disk but i cant boot the cd , it wont work. Can you please tell me anything to do to fix this problem without wiping out the data ... i have a lot of files in there i need. and if they get lost i can get fired because it holds important applications and ive work on this computer for years. FML
