I recently installed Windows Vista on my computer, and I've been having some problems playing games, primarily for games right now I use Gametap Gold until some better directx10 games come out. I have 2gbs ddr2 kingston ram, EVGA 8600GTS 512MB GDDR3 graphics, Intel Pentium D 2.8ghz non-overclocked, 500 watt power supply, not the best computer but good enough to run Vista. I'm not sure what the problem is, I know the first numbers go, "0x0000008e (0xc0000005" and there's two others. Is there anyway I can find a log of that page on my computer to put on here? Thanks for your help!

That's all the info it says in problem history. What do you recommend to replace my pentium d to run games smooth? I'll be getting another 8600GTS for sli so that should help the graphics out. You think the problem is my processor right?

Yes, from looking at it it has a very low efficiency. Ie at 500W it has a 73% efficiency which is poor. I believe that your PSU is causing the BSOD's. I would however, test your memory by rebooting to your Vista CD, using the repair my computer selection and then test you memory there.

PSU's are very important. The wattage is not always the best indicator of efficacy.

I have ran a memory diagnostics test and it checks out fine. Any recommendations on a power supply? Probably 700W+ right? Or does it need to be even more than that?
