Introductions: hmm...well here it goes, lol:
Name here is Dennis. I'm a private pilot. All I think about is flying airplanes and starships...this is where my computer comes in most of the times lol...flight simulators, space flight simulators, etc. Once I get my commercial pilot certificate I'll be doing the real thing more often (sometime in the future).
I was a pilot-weather briefer in the Navy for 6 years. Out now. During that time I taught myself how to fix and maintain computers. I know a little about writing web pages and no I don't use web page designing programs! I know a little about electronics also.
About electronics...this brings me to how I found this place:
I was looking for information about power supply repair and found this forum. By it's title it looked like a good place to stop searching.
Got an Xion LC-B450E power supply (I've heard some call PSUs that came with the tower case a "Door Stop"). It was too late when I found out it was a door stop. No more money. But I think I scavanged enough of the right capacitors and resisters to replace the existing bulging Cs and burnt/like Rs.
I have done minor componant swaping in radios before, but this time it has to work the first time since money is an issue. Any advice would be nice.
For now the PSU does work but it shuts down alot causing me to not be able to fly flight or space simulators (Virtually and physically grounded!). Any time I load a program it quits. I'm guessing the PSU is overloading due to weakened/old componants. Could said discriptions do that?
By the waym are there any electronic techs in here? lol
Oh, another question. If the first one can't be answered maybee this one can be. lol. I also use a Windows 64 bit operating system....Anyone know how to make 64 bit or modify 32 bit drivers to make devices work in Win 64?
I switched back to the 32 bit OS becuse my Logitech Wingman joystick and heaps of other things wont work! Other than that it has been working fine for me, networking and all. Need to be able to plug things in though!
Thanks for the reading.
