Hello there,
I just formatted my 40gig Hard Drive and then partitioned it . 8 gigs for the OS and the rest for games and stuff only the partition for games and stuff has not shown up in "My Computer".

Thankyou for taking the time to read my thread.

Welcome to the forum.

Did you format the HD before or after you partitioned it? Did you use fdisk?

I formatted it and then made the partition.
Can I make a working startup disk with the hd partition missing as my 98 startup disk has was erased as well as the hd partition's dissapearance?{something strange has happened I think!)

Welcome to the forums mexican(Aus)........................:D

You can go here and download a Win 98 startup disk. Make sure that you read the instructions on how to create the disk.

am i following this right??

you formated then created the partitions ???

Run Fdisk and see what partitions are there...see if you can create another partition in Fdisk with the remaining space...then when you try to access it for the first time windows should format it for you

Yes I had to format my hard drive to remove XP from my syatem.

My friend did the partition as I'm not farmiliar with fdisk
He knows about computers and fdisk , He did everything right
This is a system problem not human error.

There are 2 partitions in fdisk for drive C:\ Its just thet only 1 is active at a time and partition 1 has the drive letter C:\ and partition 2 does not have a drive letter
