Hello. I use a Nexttech headset (sorry, not sure about the model) and have been using it for quite a few months now. Everything was going fine until a few days ago.

What started happening was the sound started becoming softer. As well, static became frequent. The only way to render this was to kind of move the wire around a bit. The second I moved it, it got quieter again. Not sure how else to explain it, so pardon the awkward wording.

Just yesterday, it got even worse. It was to the point where either it was any sound at all, or nothing. And now, it's nothing at all. Unfortunately, I don't have another PC or anything to see if it's just an issue with this netbook. Please advise!

Chances are either your headphone cord (most likely) or jack (not likely) is the culprit. On the cord, the wires can fray/fatigue inside and break; or can break off at the solder point in the plug. In the jack, it can become dirty, or break off of its solder points.

Best thing is to try different headphones in the computer and try the phones in a different device.

90%+ it's the wires having frayed.
