I've been going to http://www.deviantart.com for almost 2 years now and do business/social stuff through there, and I've never had a problem with the site until now.

About four days ago I left town and when I came back I did the usual, hooked up my laptop, downloaded updates, and went to check my mail. It worked fine that morning, got to deviantart and everything. Then for some reason during the middle of the day my net connection went wacky and I started disconnecting every few minutes, MSN messenger, online games, nothing worked very long because my internet kept resetting. Then when I tried to go wifi my laptop decided to not see the router. I finally found the router's problem and downloaded a couple updates, but the internet is still being wacky. And now for some reason it can't connect to Deviantart. I can still access any other webpage, just slower because my net keeps disconnecting, just not deviantart. I get the following error:

The connection has timed out

The server at www.deviantart.com is taking too long to respond.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Even other parts of deviantart such as profiles or journals get the same error. I can't even access the site through a proxy. I've tried disabling my anti-virus, turning off my firewall, deleting cookies and cache, nothing is working. I looked up on the net and found several people who had my problem, but no kind of answers that helped. I thought maybe it was the browser doing it, but Internet Explorer and Opera give me the same errors. My friends however can still go to the site, so the site isn't down or anything.

My desktop is doing it to, just for this one site.

Any help you could give would be appreciated, I am expecting information about a job through that site and need to get in touch with the people, so I need as fast a fix as possible!

Also, if you can help with why my internet keeps being wacky I would love you!

Hi Koji! Do you keep your router on all the time or do you just turn it on when you need it? I ask this because if you leave your router on all the time it can over heat and stop working correctely, e.g. in your case.

I usually keep it on all the time, but I turned it off when I was gone for those few days. And I got the router working, apparently Vista needed to install an "optional update" that I had to go find. Took me 5 hours to find the stupid thing and install it. After I did, the router worked.

But I still have the problem of the net flickering and deviantart not loading for either of my computers, even when I direct connect without using the router. A friend of mine told me it might be a DNS problem and I need to call my ISP, which I will do as soon as their tech support line opens in ...3 hours.

Oh, and I finally got to DA through a proxy server. Its slow and full of pop-ups and errors, but it works.

Sigh.....
as if it wasn't bad enough before.

The speed test won't work on me when I am wifi because the internet is so jittery, so I went to direct connect...

And now my laptop isn't seeing the ethernet cord, and when I disconnected my router it was still seeing the network for some reason. I even toggled the Wifi on and off and when it came back on it still saw the network that wasn't plugged in. But it won't recognize the ethernet cable at all.

:Edit:
I fixed the problem with my ethernet cord. I went to the Help part and clicked on the link, a box popped up and said "Window's is fixing the problem" and then my inteternet connected. I'll run that speed test now.

This was the result of the speed test.

Is that Download speed supposed to be how fast I download pages or how fast I download files? Because I've never gotten over 30kb/s on any file download I've ever done. Took me an all nighter to download an MMO I wanted to play.

ok i think you need to connect to your router, go to your address bar and type in 192.168.1.1 and log-in. Search around the UI of the router to find a link to update firmware button or instructions and follow that plz.

I called my ISP because my net decided to shut down on me completely for some reason. When the net came back up, everything worked properly.

Thanks for trying to help me though, I really appreciate it :D
