i have inspiron 530 original with vista,upgrade to window 7 from dell
hard drive crash ,purchase a new one but will not accept window7
Dell tell me they do not make hard drive for my pc anymore
what are my option,sorry not to sharp on pc thank you for any input

We need a lot more information.
Your PC is not too old, Dell Inspiron 530 Specs - CNET you said you bought a new HDD, what happens when you try to install Windows 7? How did you update to Windows 7? Did you use an Update disc? If so, you will need to install Vista first, and then Upgrade to Windows 7.
Why is Dell saying they don't make a HDD for your computer? Any 3.5" SATA HDD should work for your computer, unless this is older then you say and you are using an IDE HDD (see attached). If your computer uses the older IDE, you can purchase a drive from Ebay.
