Hard Drives keep dying after attempting to install Windows???

Hello all, I am new to this sort of thing and was hoping for some help or suggestions. I bought a Acer Aspire 5315 Laptop that came with no Hard Drive. I bought a Hard Drive installed it and then continued to install Windows XP Pro. Windows will go through it steps and then when its time for windows to start my Hard Drive fails??? All I get is a spinning/ and or clicking hard drive and thats it?? This has happened to me with three different drives so fars and two of them were brand new. I have tried to install the hard drives in other computers but they do the same thing...spin and click and don't show up. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the Laptop??
