This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support team.

After reading through your posting it appears that the problems you are experiencing are most likely due to hardware problems. I would suggest, as the other posters have done, that you run a diagnostic tool from the manufacturer of your Hard Drive to see what it reports.

Secondly, please make sure that you run LiveUpdate to ensure that you have the latest versions of the Norton AntiVirus program files and virus definitions. While "Buffer Overflow" errors sometimes point to a hardware issue, there are also known exploits that Norton AntiVirus protects against. By making sure that you have the latest product updates and virus definitions, you can eliminate these exploits as the possible causes for the problems you are experiencing.
