Hi,
Today my Vista froze and normaly I hit the restart button, but after half an hour the same happend. I found out that the problem is caused by an WD500 hdd which I use as a file storage. I reconected the drive and it was ok for another 30 minutes, and freezed again. After that my BIOS just wouldnt find the hard drive until I reconected it again. Also tried switching the sata cables and the slots but that wouldnt help either.
I have 3 HDDs installed on my system, but the other two funcition normaly. It was strange for me that I could access the foulty drive after reconecting.
I'll try and reconect the WD500 again tomorrow and transfer the files to the bigger drive.

What could be the problem? Any comment would be nice.
Thanks guys

This won't cure your prob but I have WD250gb Sata. I have several drives installed on my comp and numerous operating systems. I switch about several times a day. The WD will often go missing. I used to open the case and press the hard drive connection,
I have noticed several other postings about WD drives with the same prob.
