Hi, my spare hard drive has suffered a physical failure. At first windows could see it as it gave it a drive letter but wouldnt put it in explorer. I started checkdisk but power cut stopped that. Now when i plug it in (external caddy) it doesnt show up at all.

Is there a way to force windows to see it without scanning it to work out what it is so i can try and run some recovery software. Or is there a DOS program that is better.

I have a backup of it but its a week out of date, this is mostly just to see what is possible/ learning experience.

Thanks For any help

Matt

You need to connect the drive direct to the motherboard with sata data cable and sata power cable don't try to use USB to recover data across just doesn't work well. Download the trial version of r-studio scan the drive to see if it can see the data if yes then pay and recover your files.
