I have a system with intel P4 2.4Ghz Processor and Intel 865BGF Motherboard with 1GB (400 MHz) DDR RAM. I recently upgraded my 80 GB HDD to 250 GB. However though the BIOS detects the new 250 GB Seagate PATA HDD, I am unable to install Windows on it. When I tried fdisk it said, "Error reading disk". Windows XP is also not able to install on the HDD... What could be the problem?? Is the large HDD not supported By the Intel 865 Motherboard?... I tried it on a different machine also but to same result... Please Help...

Hi, welcome to TSF.

How is the HDD hooked up?
The jumper should be set to master and the drive connected at the end of the ribbon cable. Any other drive connected to the same cable must be jumpered as slave.
Are you using an 80-wire IDE cable?
