Looking for the best AGP card and looking at GeForce 7 serires what is the difference between GS, GT, and GTX (I dont think there is a GTX for AGP, is there?). is the 7800 the best i can get? what is the difference between the manufacturers? My spending limit is $250. An s-video out would be ideal but i guess i could get a converter may be. suggestions.

curently have XFX 5800 LE 256mb

what about the two in the catagory below? whats the difference between them? if 7800 is better than which maufacturer would i want.

currently i am between the two above, the XFX the person above linked the radon below or anything else that is up there more suggestions of "whats up there" or what to exclude would be good. the reason i liked the radeon is becouse of the oblivion score. i am also not looking for absolute best resolution because my screen doesnt have enought pixels to make a difference. tell me what you guys think. i also have a spending limit of $250 and can maybe stretch it to max $300.

evga is also a very good brand. the 7800GS is going to be the best AGP card you can buy. just make sure the card maker is eVGA, XFX, BFG, or Asus. MSI also makes decent ones, but the companies i have listed are better

the eVGA is overclocked alot. that is good, because you will have alot better performance and wont be killing the warrenty. as for eVGA vs XFX, my vote goes to eVGA but XFX also makes very good cards. it really is worth the extra $50 because it could save you about $250

When I bought my Nvidia the tech guy told me to but the lower GT version over the higher GS version, as in get a 7600 GT over a 7900 GS. As it turned out they were out of stock of almost all GT's so I bought a 7900 GS and I've been totally happy with it. Would a 7600 GT have been better?

The XFX card I posted is 10 MHz core, but it really won't make too much of a difference. XFX and eVGA are both good, but I usually pick eVGA over XFX if I find two cards that are of the same spec. Keep in mind the X850Pro is still a good choice to consider.

It basicly goes LE < GS < GT < GTX/XT with the exception being on the 6800GT, which had four more pipelines than the 6800XT. But a higher number card will almost always beat a lower number card regardless of the GS or GT. But keep in mind that older cards can still be better than newer cards. For example, a 6600GT will beat a 7300GS.

Factory overclocked cards still carry a warranty, and both eVGA and XFX have a lifetime warranty on their cards.

Lots of very very helpful info matt. it brings up a few more questions. could i easily get the same results from overclocking the less expensive evga or would that void the warrenty? Or should i just go for the factory overclocked?
i also cant find an X850 pro or its specs.

thanx

i was also just looking at ATI cards and want to know what some reliable manufacturers are. what specs am i looking for when comparing the geforce 7800s vs the X1650 radon. i could tell the radeons had better core clock but not nearly as good memory clock. If i do decide to go radeon what manufacturer would be good?

just found X850 and realized that X1650 is no good. I now really need to know what i would find more useful: higher core clock or higher memory clock.

or even just to make it more simple here is what im looking at:
