I have a HD Radeon 6870 and for a little while now I have had some issues with my graphics freezing up and the sounds gets all distorted for a couple seconds. If I play a ten minute match of CoD MW3 this could happen at least 5 times. Sometimes it won't do it at all if I restart my computer or haven't had it on for a while. It even does this during movies and other games I play but it's most frustrating in CoD due to the fast pace of the game. Let me know if you need any other info to help solve this issue.

Can you list your PC specs including power supply?

What temperatures are your GPU/CPU at idle and in game? CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Have you made sure your graphic drivers are up to date?

This is my first custom system and I built it myself. I hadn't had this problem until almost year after I built this. It's been doing this for maybe a month now and I hoped it might go away but it hasn't. What software would you recommend for finding driver updates? My graphics drivers should be up to date as I just got some software with steam that updates them.

My GPU voltage would idle at .95-1.17V and Temperature of 54-56 C (129-132 F)
My CPU voltage would idle at .93-.99V under CPU VCORE, not sure if that's the right one, and Temperature of 41-48 C (105-118 F), depending on the core. There was no voltages under the CPU section itself, only Wattage, which is 36.38-55.6W

After a quick round of CoD on Max settings, AA x2:

My GPU voltage maxed at 1.17V and Temperature of 75 C (167 F)
My CPU voltage maxed at 1.10V and Temperature of 52 C (125 F) and 102.47W

You can get the latest drivers here ATI Radeon under individual downloads it's the display you want.

Your GPU temp is quite high although wouldn't be causing you problems.

After updating your drivers I would firstly reseat the Graphic card and RAM sticks, if the problem persists then try using 1 RAM stick and see if the problem remains.

Try efx8's suggestions.
The CX Corsair PSU's aren't recommend and being a yr. old makes it a suspect.
You should be at 650W minimum for the 6870 GPU with a good quality PSU.
SeaSonic-XFX-Corsair (not the CX-GS-M Series).

How does a PSU cause an issue like that? It kind of sucks to have to spend $100 on a new one that might not fix the problem. Is there a way I can reduce the heat on my GPU?

My drivers are up to date, I'm going to dust out my computer to see if that helps at all but do you really think it could be a PSU issue? It's run fine this whole time till now.
