Hi there,
I've come to you guys for help as I have always used this Forum for all my IT needs an the support has been second to none!
My daughter has our old "hand me down" PC which isn't too bad but I know needs replacing once I have the spare cash. The spec as follows:
Windows XP Pro SP3
2.67 Celeron CPU
1Gb RAM
2x HDDs (1x20Gb, 1x40Gb)
DVDRW
Radeon VE 7000 Graphics Card (PCI)
On paper it seems to meet the minimum spec for running Sims3 but whenever I try to launch it I get the error "Device 0 cannot run this title. Your video card does not appear to support at least Shader Model 2. Please upgrade your video card.
Frustratingly, according to the EA website, my graphics card is on the list of supported cards but hey ho what can I do?
Anyway, what I am really asking for is some advice on the best card to get without breaking the bank that WILL support this game. I realize that as I am still using PCI on this machine I might be limited and I don't really have the cash to upgrade the whole PC at the moment so hopefully you guys might be able to help pull a rabbit out of the hat!
Newegg.com will be your best friend! Just checked and they got pci slot graphic cards, you just gotta refine your search, saw some prices as low as $30, hope this helps!
