Hello I just recently registered after viewing quite a few helpful threads about numerous subjects. Now I have a problem of my own that I'd need some assistance with.

My old power supply recently went berserk and fried my old motherboard. I took the whole system for maintenance where they changed my motherboard and power supply. Now ever since the motherboard switch I've been experiencing lag with 3D graphics along with occasional high lagspikes while not doing anything special.

I thought that it might have something to do with the motheboards onboard graphic unit not being powerful enough. So I went ahead and got myself an ATI Radeon 3870 HD Graphics card. I also upgraded my power supply to. Chieftecs CFT-600-14CS 600 Watt power supply in order to fully support the graphics card. After I got all the components hooked up and installed there was still no improvement.

At this point I had already formatted my HD twice. Once before installing the new motherboard and once after hooking up the power supply just in case. I've updated all the Drivers I could find for the graphics card as well as my motherboard drivers. Even though Driver detective still tells me that I have outdated Sound and Ethernet drivers. But I don't see how that could effect 3D performance.

For my system specifications.

I'm not 100% certain what motherboard I have since AIDA32, Belarc and Everst all say that it's unidentified. But I'm fairly certain that it's 761GX-M754 from ECS.

I have 1GB of RAM memory.
600 Watt power supply
ATI Radeon 3870 HD with 512 MB memory
LGL194WT 16:9 Widescreen display. Using 1440x900 resolution.
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0 Ghz processor
Samsung SP0802N Internal Hard Drive. 80GB
Lacie 250 GB external HD.

I can post additional information about my system, just tell me what you'd require.

I've fully updated every single driver I could find, I've checked connections and cables for any errors, I've tried disabling services and killing processes in order to give more RAM to use. I've formatted and reinstalled everything, I've tried every single possible thing I can think of. But nothing seems to be helping, 3D program still lag. Along with occasional lag while just surfing the net or doing something not very resource consuming.

I play 2 games mainly. Ragnarok online and Half Life 2. Ragnarok has a very simply rendered 3D graphics along with sprite based characters. It lags. While HL2 is far more complex, it lags as well but not worse then Ragnarok. The lagging is around the same level so I doubt that the graphics are too hard for my system.

So does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Or should I just screw it and go get myself a new motherboard and processor?

No one knows? =/

Also I've now noticed that it's not actually only with 3D games, it also happesnw tih most moving pictures. Some Videos lag, along with flash. It's like there's something wrong with the Video card whiel there's really not. I also tested it without the Raden 3870 and just with the onboard graphics engine. The problem was still there. So I'm guessing there's some sort of problem with the motherboard and how it processes graphics.

Who did you go to, to get your hardware changed? They could of given you second hand/faulty hardware.

Also, it could be that your HDD has some errors/been damaged in some way. Lastly, It could be network related problems, with network adapters etc.

Hmm...I doubt the maintenance gave faulty parts. It's a small company and I know the guy who works there, I've been taking my computer there for quite a while and they've always been good.

And network adapter problems? Could they really affect graphical performance o.o..
I could also try with another HD if I can get my hands on one and see if that is causing the problems. As of now however I don't have a separate HD I could try it out with =/

I can't remember what the motherboard was originally sorry =/ Also the RAM is the same as it was on the last motherboard, I've checked and it should be completely compatible and there really aren't any problems in running multiple processes or anything that would require a lot of RAM.

They didn't make the board. All Manufactures have failures thats why there's a guaranty If I was you I would take it back since the problem only started after the MB change
