Google Redirect: Slowing Down My Internet

1446 Views 10 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  amateur
This is my new thread with all of the info.

I'll introduce myself. My name is Courtney Parks. Nice to meet you!

Anyways, onto my problem. For about a week now, everytime I connect to the internet, I'll type in where I want to go but then, all of a sudden, I'll get redirected to a new page. Now from doing simple searches, my results have come up saying this is some kind of MalWare. I've downloaded MalWare bytes and have scanned with it, but each time nothing comes up in the results of it being MalWare. The first time I tried to scan, with AVG, I got a BSOD and it read this line:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

along with some other numbers. When I scanned with MalWare bytes as well, I got the same results. Can someone help me? This is really impacting my computer performance (I play a few online games) and I'm tired of lagging in them.

Can someone help me remedy this problem.

EDIT: I made a new thread so I could add some information.

Also, before I post my log, I'd like to say that I tried to run gmer.exe about four times. Each try was unsuccessful was I met with a BSOD. On the message it said:

XDva346.sys

So in my zip file, the ARK file will not be in there because I couldn't get it.

Here's my DDS file:

Hello and welcome. Please follow these guidelines while we work on your PC:
  • Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until I’ve given you the “All clear.” Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean!
  • Please do not run any scans or install/uninstall any applications without being directed to do so.
  • Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.
Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.

Download Combofix from either of the links below, and save it to your desktop.

Link 1
Link 2

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

--------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT - ComboFix will not run until AVG is uninstalled. This is because AVG falsely detects ComboFix (or its embedded files) as a threat and may remove them resulting in the tool not working correctly which in turn can cause "unpredictable results". Since AVG cannot be effectively disabled before running ComboFix, the author recommends you to uninstall AVG first. You may do this through Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program or you can use this tool for a more complete removal:

Download AppRemover from here saving it to your desktop.
  • Double click to run AppRemover
  • Follow the prompts to remove AVG
  • Reboot
Once you've removed AVG with this tool please continue with these instructions
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • If you have trouble, stop and post back. Do not try to repeatedly run comboFix!
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
.
Please include the following in your next post:
  • ComboFix log

I tried to run ComboFix on my computer. It said something about rootkit activity and that it would need to restart. It said keep this file handy or something like that.

C:\Documents and Settings\releaseengineer\Application Data\ntos.exe

It started up when my computer was back on but then I got a BSOD.
Are you able to boot the computer now? If so, please do this to open the ComboFix log (if one was created). Post the log for me if one is found.

Click Start > Run or press Windows Key + R copy/paste the following into the run box that opens and press OK:
c:\ComboFix.txt
See less See more
It said c:\ComboFix.txt was not found. Should I try to run it again?
epmanaphy:

Run this, then try ComboFix again:

Download TDSSKiller.zip and extract TDSSKiller.exe to your desktop
  • Execute TDSSKiller.exe by doubleclicking on it.
  • Press Start Scan
  • If Malicious objects are found then ensure Cure is selected. Important - If there is no option to "Cure" it is critical that you select "Skip"
  • Then click Continue > Reboot now
  • Once complete, a log will be produced in c:\. It will be named for example, TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_24.07.2010_13.10.52_log.txt
  • Attach that log, please.

Please include the following in your next post:
  • TDSSKiller log
  • ComboFix log

I have the TDSS files but when I don't really see the ComboFix.txt file anyplace. I'm not sure if it was successful or not (my dad got on the computer when it was turning back on).

Hi,

Do this, if the log opens post it and wait for further instructions. If no log is found, delete your existing copy of ComboFix, download a new one and try to run it again.

Click Start > Run or press Windows Key + R copy/paste the following into the run box that opens and press OK:
c:\ComboFix.txt

I won't be at my computer for a few days. Have to go out of town on a school trip. :/
Thanks for letting me know. I'll leave the thread open.
