Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the aforementioned motherboard...
The thing is that randomly when I am playing games I get strange noise which is intensifying each second. When I minimise the game noise slowly stops. The sound is similar to rustling sound. This has happened only in AC:B and LoL. I even once left it to see will it stop alone, but the pc just turned off after some time. It was like the power was cut, afterwards the PC started itself again. So whenever I get this noise I have to minimise the game or quit it, this is getting really annoying. I am wondering if any of you guys have idea what is going on?

This is my PC:
Gigabyte EP43-DS3L
Intel Core 2 Duo e7400
OCZ gold 800Mhz 2x2GB RAM
Gainward 9800GT 1GB
PSU AXP simple power supply 500W
Windows 7

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in your advice

For the noise issue, you can open the side panel and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. But if I had to guess I'd say that PSU has a hand in it, it's very low quality and underpowered for a 9800GT. And it could explain why the system was shutdown "as if the power was cut". Replace it to a better quality unit such as:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Or:

Newegg.com - XFX Core Edition PRO650W (P1-650S-CAB9) 650W ATX12V v2.2 & ESP12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

In the mean time, please boot into the bios and post the temps and voltage readings.

The noise isn't coming from my computer case. It is coming from my speakers/headset. Also I forgot to mention that when I get the strange sound I get notification showing my Mic is plugged out, but it actually isn't.
As for the PSU, it worked for over a year normaly, but I might change it, meanwhile I want to get to the source of my problem here...

I checked the voltages and here is what I got.

Vcore 1.236V
DDR18V 1.888V
+3.3V 3.296V
+12V 12.429V

Temp of CPU 34°C

Did the noise start to happen only recently? Do you have the latest audio drivers?

As for the PSU, one year is enough for such a poor quality unit to start failing. Replace it before it damages your system. The 3.3V seems to be slightly dropping. I don't think it's in a critical range, but it's better to be stable.

Check the wiring to the front panel audio ports from the motherboard, make sure it's not routed near the CPU fan wiring, or any wiring from the power supply.

If your using the front mic port try using the rear port.

The PSU is very low quality 12.4v while within spec is a tad high, are those readings from the Bios or a windows program?

Yes, the noise started like 3 weeks ago. First it was for few days, and then it suddenly stopped, now I am getting it again. I have the latest audio drivers also. Before I tought it might be problem with my OS (I was on Vista) because Vista was also freezing. Then I switched to Win7 and I am without any freezing but the sound thingy is starting to annoy me again.
As for the PSU I am probably going to change it, didnt really know it was so bad. Thanks for the advice. :D

The wiring is okay, I also tried switching ports with mic but nothing changed, as well as pluggin it out.
I am not an expert when it comes to voltages and everything so I dont really understand anything about it, dont really know what is high, normal or low when it comes to that. And those were the voltages I took from BIOS.

Lets see what HW Monitor gives for voltages and CPU and System temps, if they are close to the Bios readings run one of the games that causes the issue with HW Monitor running in the back ground, when the sound starts ALT/TAB to bring up the HWM screen and record the temps and voltages.

CPU temps are good, but the GPU is too hot at 60C if those are the idle temps. Dust buildup and a poor power source will do this. Get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out, and replace the PSU to any of the ones that I linked to above.

Hello again,
I was playing LoL for some time but I didn't get the noise... and this is the picture of HW monitor while playing the game... Only of I could think is that if graphic card reaches critical temp it overloads the PSU and causes noise and crash afterwards. (if anything of this is even possible lol)

What is the ambient temp in the room the PC's in?
The temps are still well in the safe range, just a tad on the warm side.
The 12v shows going out of spec high on the 12v(12.61v Spec 11.4-12.6v) so it may very well be a PSU issue, ideally, ideally I like to see the 12v stay below 12.20 the closer it is to 12v the better the voltage regulation is in the supply.

The temperature in the room is around 20°C. I am using HAF922 Case so I don't think there should be a problem with temps since it is well ventilated, and yet there is the high temp with GPU.

From what I have read and I may be wrong but it sounds to me like your psu may be spiking when its being pushed or returning from being pushed (i.e running a game then minimizing the window).

Since you are running a low quality power supply and underpowering your system there is a very good chance that it is spiking the system and could very well be causing damage to the components connected to the motherboard.

If I were you I'd get rid of that psu even if its not the cause of this issue before you have to buy a whole new system. You should be running a corsair 650TX at the very least.

I would like to interject my own suggestion for a PSU. The Corsair 750TX. It's the older version which has been tried and true for many, many people. Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

The XFX PSUs are in the "so-so" range in terms of build quality. If you feel like spending the money, the top-dog names are: Sparkle, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling (usually way overpriced), Silverstone, Seasonic, and a few others I can't remember off hand.

However, that 750TX I linked is an OUTSTANDING power supply. Many people have tested these things and one person was able to pull damn-near 1000w out of it before it shut itself off to keep from overheating.

Oh, and yeah that's absolutely what the problem is. I had a similar problem with one of my systems where the onboard audio would fuzz-out (popping/hissing sounds and then nothing) during high-load. Replaced the PSU and the problem was fixed.

(it was a cheap PSU I was using temporarily, by the way)

Thanks for advices guys, I will be buying new PSU in the next few days and hopefully it will solve the problem. Now I am just thinking which one is best too buy, don't want to change the PSU every few months :D.
I got recommendation for some Powerline 650W psu and I can get it quite cheaper since the seller is a good friend, would like to hear your opinion.

So what do you think about Seasonic S12 620W, would it be any good or I should get more powerfull one? Also I am checking for Corsair PSU in shops in my city, and the only ones I could find are Corsair 850W HX and Corsair 450W VX. But there are also Fortron aurum gold 600W and 700W. So now I am thinking about Seasonic S12 620W and Fortron one 600W. I know I am boring to you but i don't want to make same mistake twice with PSU...
Thanks for everything.
