I've just upgraded to a Gigabyte 870A-UD3 & Phenom II 965 for my system, the only problem is that my HSF, a Zalman CNPS10X Extreme, overlaps the RAM slot nearest to it. This isn't a major problem at present as i'm only using 2x2GB sticks, but I would like to upgrade in the future & I was wondering if anyone could suggest a suitable HSF for my motherboard.

Thanks,
Tom

You're plenty good with 4GB of RAM unless you do intense graphics work or data crunching.

Oh yes I know but its quite close to the module in the 2nd slot as well. Also, the orientation of the fan is a bit odd. It draws warm air off the GPU and sends it straight out into the PSU which im not too keen on as I like to have a go at OCing. Dont most HSFs take air from the front of the case and send it straight out towards the rear case fan?

The CPU fan should be oriented to move the air toward the rear of the case.

Not that I can see, from what i've seen other people have brought this up about this particular HSF.

I thought it should go front to back but this one goes bottom to top!

Your right I was thinking of a 9900 Zalman cooler that comes with a different motherboard bracket, your model does not come with it.
The 9700 will mount front to back using the stock bracket or the 9900 max comes with a motherboard bracket to orient it front to back. The CNSP5X will also mount the correct way.
