First if this is in the wrong section please let me know. I build a website in Xhtml.

It's under construction till i fix the problem. This like will get you in.

I sent a site map to Google to get the site indexed. It was over 2 weeks and nothing happened. So I read up on how to make your website more Google friendly. One of the things was site naming and meta tags. I added the tags and change the page names. But shortly after the site got indexed with the old names so none of the pages that got indexed are there. Plus i forgot to change the site map but it's fixed now.

So basically my site is a mess on Google and I want Google to forget all my pages and start from scratch most of my pages haven't been crawled in a month. Can this be done? Do I just have to keep waiting?

Thank you for your time.

There are literally billions of websites out there - so yeah, you're going to have to hang tight for a bit. You could sign up for Google Webmaster tools to help:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/

Sites listed with them typically get checked more often. Once you get your site set up in their tools, you can click a button to let them know that your site needs to be re-crawled - so you're put in their queue.

Thank you very much! I am setup with webmaster tools and attached it to my iGoogle. I thought I may have to just wait it's just that some of the pages haven't been crawled in 5 weeks.

I would like to know where the button is to put it into the crawl queue. the only thing I've found like that was to resubmit the site map.

Thank you for the reply.

Google gives priority to websites that it considers important. Google is not going to crawl your website often if it is new, doesn't have much original content, and/or doesn't have many inbound links. The things you've done will help, but there I'd say getting more inbound links is the next thing you should focus on to help you get indexed and better rankings.

If your interested in learning more about SEO then there are many great blogs out there and SEOmoz has some great articles to help you get started.

Same thing - it tells Googlebot that there's a new site map to scan and puts you in the queue.
