This happens about every 5 minutes. And especially when I try to access "My Computer", it takes 5 minutes to bring up my drives. It is also causing some things not to work. It won't recognize anymore external devices other than what is already connected (ie: video cameras).

Don't have the blaster virus. Got rid of a few trojans, but were unrelated to this problem.

I feel dumb just posting screenshots all of the time, but whatever.

Security Update for Windows XP (KB823980) may solve the problem.

Looks like I already have the newest security update installed, according to the error message I got when trying to install it.

You are sure it is not a virus issue but it is still a possibility. Would you like to post a HJT log under the security section of this forum ? Lets make sure. Since it is a posibility and you had some trojans detected already i think this would be wise to have a double check. click on greyknights link below and follow the instructions. If you insist it is not an infection read this article it might give you some ideas.

Hey...

Hey I was just wondering if you have the AVG free anti-virus software loaded on your computer, because I just downloaded and installed it and now all of a sudden I'm having that same "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" error pop up all the time? If you do, AVG might have something to do with the problem.
