did a search for generic 408 virus and found NOTHING.....Who is telling you you have this pirticular virus...

Are you running a STORE bought -NOT over the internet Anti-virus solution....If not we should end here:upset:

Sorry one thing not to chince on is Anti-virus software...if you have one make sure

A. is it current -Nortons 5.0 is not as current as Nortons 2002 and non of them are as curent as running live update when connected to the system....
B. I give nortons refrences because for the money it is the best one out there...and for personal use there really is nothing else

If you dont have on...GET ONE :angry2:

(can you tell ...I clean viruses off systems all day from people who think viruses dont exsist)

Expand on the signs and symptoms....what going on...Have you tried the free scan (a temp fix till you AV is current ) at www.antivirus.com/freetools.htm...( i belive)

post back and we will continue

P.s. welcome to our friendly board stick around:angel:

The best way I found to get rid of a boot sector virus is to use a bootable floppy with a anti-virus program on it. Make the floppy from a clean system, or you will just re-infect yourself. Most anti-virus programs will enable you to make a boot disk.
