I have ran adaware, spybot, avg and housecall, but the computer still has a virus. It runs slow, as well as the color changes occasionally.

Hello mam91031 and welcome to TSF,

I'm not seeing any malware in your log. Has any virus been detected by any other programs? If so, can you please provide that information.

Download and install CleanUp!

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! or move them to a permanent location.

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click on the "Temporary Files" and uncheck the box for "Scan drives for file matching" if it's checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

Reboot/logoff when prompted.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Please run this online scan to search for any remnants. It can take some time, so please be patient and allow it to run it's full course:

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
  1. Click on
located at the bottom of the page.
  2. A "pop up" window will appear. * Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it *
  3. Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click "Free Online Scan" *The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place*
Begin the scan by selecting
  • If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
  • Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.
  • Click on
    then click
* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Run a new scan with HijackThis and save the log.

Please include the following in your next reply:

newest problem

No viruses was found with avg or housecall. I plan on running panda scan if it will work this time. I have a new problem now, however. My monitor will not work. The computer has a nvidia display card and an inboard card. I was running on the nvidia, but it doesn't work now. It seems as if the card cannot be found. I tried to reinstall, but it says cannot find. Even though it can be found such as nwiz.exe, and nvidia under add/remove programs. Any suggestions?

I ask again--what led you to believe you had a virus causing the slowness and color changing? If no programs alerted you to a virus, this could very well be hardware issues. Have you considered the possibility that your monitor has gone bad?

viruses were detected

I ran avg, which found 3-4 viruses, as well as housecall, which eliminated 2 more viruses. I cannot list the viruses though, sorry. Now the computer is free of viruses and malware, but the display card cannot be found. Prior to the infection, the computer ran on the nvidia display card and the onboard would not work. Now the opposite is true. When I tried to reinstall the display, it said the display card wasn't found; however, the software is there such as add/remove list and system startup (nwiz.exe). Thought I might have to add/remove then reinstall or disable the onboard and pray?

Hi,

Is your monitor working yet? If not, I would suggest you begin a thread in the Hardware section and see if the folks there can help you out.

Once your monitor is working again, I need all those scans and reports I asked you for in order to see if there is any malware at the root of your issues.
