"garbled" video to TV

775 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  emosun
HI, I have an Inspiron 530 with XP that I added a MSI R4350 graphics card to so that I could display my desktop on my TV (Sony Grand Wega (rear projecion)). I'm using a cable that is DVI out to component in to the TV and the screen comes up but is "garbled/scrambled", it looked at first like old fashioned "vertical hold" on a TV. I played around with the resolutions and refresh rates and it changes some but still pretty much unreadable. ANY help would be greatly appreciated, Thank

You have to set it to the tv's native resolution and refresh rate otherwise it will not come in properly.
I thought I tried all that were listed but i looked up the native res. and will try again tonight. Thanks so much!
OK I read that native res. is 1366x768, windows display properties has 1360x768 and of them work none work. Any other ideas?
It's the cable. You need an actual covnerter to change DVI to component. A simple cable won't work.

DVI is a digital signal. Component is an analog signal.
Thank you for the help, I'll ebay a conv. :)
I was not aware of that even though it makes total sense. lol
