Hello there,

I have been given a music CD from a friend to copy for him, it is dance music.

It has 11 tracks, however as is usual with such music these tracks are mixed into one another without leaving a 1 to 2 second silent gap between the tracks.

On copying the CD I found that the new CD has silent gaps in it between tracks.

This doesn’t sound right and does not flow as an album.

Basically I am looking for a way to cut out the 1 to 2 second silent gaps and make the copied CD sound like the original.

I used Windows Media Player 11 to copy the CD.

nero does it but nero costs. real player is free and it dosn't do it. ashampoo burnin studio does it but it costs too. my recommendation is real player.

Alternatively, a freeware audio recorder/editor called 'Audacity' will let you record the CD as 1 entire track.

You can use the program to boost the volume over the entire track, or sections, normalise the volume - there's a whole range of audio 'toys' to enhance the quality.

If you want to save the file as .MP3, you'll need the 'Lame' encoder.

I use Nero' to burn MP3's as audio CD's, I assume WMP 11 can do the same.

PS Those CD's you've already burnt, you could record those into Audacity' and cut out the gaps, restoring them back to original :wink:
