PCI Express is currently the best format for gaming video cards. The best PCI-e card in my opinion would be the Geforce 7800GTX KO.

PCI is old technology, AGP is ageing technology but still very competitive, PCI-E is newer technology but is still really to be pushed to any limits.

If you're buying a new motherboard I'd get one that has PCI-E for future proofing. A reasonable graphics card to consider on a budget would be the NVidia Geforce 6600GT, a better option would be the 6800GT for mid budget...for high budget the 7800GTX is the puppies plums.

Nor is there an advantage. My 6800 has VGA, S-Video, and DVI. Since I like working on 2+ displays I just got a tiny DVI->VGA adapter and voila, instant display doubling magic!

i still dont have a clue why they came up with DVI... its bigger (so its not better for laptops) its an even more weird shape, and its the exact same transpher ability...

Hype. It's all hype! The truth is, analog displays actually look better than digital. It's like music. Unless you have some ballsy 96bit ADC then you won't hear it was it was meant to sound.
