Games Won't Work After Reformatting PC

Hello! I'm a newcomer here, I'm really glad to find this forum, I hope I can learn something from my problem. :) First of all, I'm sorry if my problems are stupid, I really have not much idea about PC. :(

Well, the problems began after I reformatted my PC. I used Windows 7 64-bit Professional before, but the internet problem kept bugging me off, so I decided to install Windows XP SP3 32-bit Professional on my PC.

Games worked well when I used Windows 7. But then, they don't work after I reformatted it with Windows XP SP3. Steam even won't open. I downloaded Origin, and bought Battlefield 2 Complete Edition, but when I tried to launch it, it won't launch. Well, the desktop went black for a few moments, then it returned to normal desktop. I tried to install L.A. Noire, it won't work as well.

Sometime it also stuck in the black desktop, and when I opened the Task Manager, the BF2 didn't responding. Some other time, an error message popped out, "The instruction at 0x7c91240b referenced memory at 0x11cfc9f3. The memory could not be written.".

This is my computer specs, in case needed.
Intel® Core™ i7-3960X CPU @ 3.30GHz
3.30GHz, 2.94GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690

I also have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, and 3.5 SP1, installed.

I really appreciate any helps and suggestion! Thank you! :)

Did you update all your drivers after reformatting? I know when I've reformatted in the past I've forgotten to install all my drivers and had a tough time figuring out why stuff wasen't working.

I referenced the numbers in here.
The instruction at 0x7c91240b referenced memory at 0x11cfc9f3. The memory could not be written
Out what pops is usually an exception code is ExceptionCode=0xc0000005

0xC0000005 Access Violation Error

In Windows XP Service Pack 2 Microsoft introduced Data execution prevention (DEP)
You can try turning off DEP for the program in question for a bit.

Hi, goudy! This is what I'm not sure of, well when I first installed the Windows 7 64-bit, I just installed all the drivers from the CD that came out with the CPU, and it worked. But now, after I installed the Windows XP 32-bit, and I installed exactly the same drivers from the same CD, it didn't work. Even the Steam program itself, won't launch, I tried to make new account, because probably it's because I have a game that doesn't compatible for Windows XP, but it's still won't work. :(

as said above make sure you update all your drivers
Video Card Drivers, chipset drivers, sound card drivers

also download directx 9.0c from my signature
Hi RockmasteR! I tried to visit the link and about to download it, but on the operating system field, there's no Windows XP? Only Vista, 7, and 8. And when I tried to look up for Windows XP, no results came out. But oddly, I have a driver from the CD that came out with the CPU and it has Windows XP, the version is 301.42. And as I said above, I installed this driver as well when I had Windows 7, and it worked for any games. Any idea?

I referenced the numbers in here.

Hi McNinja! I don't know, but that's the code that I received. :( I've tried to turn off the DEP as well, but it didn't work still. :( When I tried to open Steam, there's a console box saying 'loggin in', but then it just popped off and nothing happened afterwards.

There's no Windows XP driver for GTX 690 on Nvidia's site.

Asus website has a driver though: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download ENGT520 Series

You'll want this one: nv301_42WHQL_WinXP.zip

I tried to download the 306.23 and ran the installer but it says that 'This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.'. :( What should I do? Thanks again!

I see a terrible combination here

a GTX 690 with a Windows XP!!!!

first of all the GTX 690 is not designed for Windows XP, all these errors you are having because there are no good drivers for it that supports windows XP
the best solution is to install Windows 7 you will benefit from the DirectX 11 and will unlock the GTX 690's full potential

Hi RockmasteR! Oh Christ sake! Is that why? :( Well, the thing with Windows 7 is it always gets trouble with the internet connection after a while, in fact I even use cable. :( I usually left my computer on and barely shut it down, but I don't see it affects the internet connection, doesn't it?

Sometime the connection is just cut off, with that yellow triangle and exclamation mark on it, saying 'Unidentified connection' or something. Though the internet is still working on my iPad and iMac with wireless. And the only solution I can do is to restart the modem, but it would be funny to restart the modem every single times, because it occurs often. The troubleshooting always came out with invalid gateway. I've tried to find for solution but none of them worked, the problem still occurs. :(

As I see that you're using Windows 7, have you ever encountered a same problem as I do? Do you know why? Thanks a bunch for the help! :)

I never asked but what is your PSU's make and model. (Power Supply Unit)
You should be at the very least running a 750w PSU with 60 amps on the 12v rail.

If you go here
NVIDIA Driver Downloads

You'll find no drivers for windows XP. I never use the driver from the CD for a video card. They are usually the first driver to be released and can be very very buggy.

You'll find that by next april (2014) windows will completely stop supporting XP. I think now is a good time to upgrade to a modern OS.
