Game screen troubles!!!!

I've just bought "Football Manager 2008" for my PC. I've installed it correctly as standard but everytime i open the program, my display area is shifted by about 2 inches to the left; a black margin runs down the right side of my screen and the left side of the game screen is cut off. I have played many games on my computer but this is the first time this has happened. I thought it may be down to the resolution but i've changed it several times and it still continues to happen. I have also checked the in-game menu to see if its possible to shift the screen positioning but no such thing exists.

Anyone got any idea how to sort this?
