No competition for me.

Prototype.

I paid 0 attention to the story, but for me, there is nothing more fun than gliding around the city, sprinting up the side of a building and then elbow dropping 300 stories on to someone's face.

Hmm, that is a hard one. No games really appealed to me this year. I was going to say MW2, but IMO it lost its competitiveness after the completely and utterly stupid idea to pull dedicated servers out.

I never played Dragon Age: Origins but it looks extremely good, I would nominate this, but I never played it so I could not say firs-hand.

I would also have to vote Dragon Age: Origins. Fantastic play and great action however to add to the best game of 09' what about the best lcd monitor on which to play these games? Right now I am selling my LG Flatron 22' and hoping to get a 1920x1080 LG 23' or 24' with the higher res rate. Not too sure wether to go for that or an asus model.

But anyhow I totaally love DA:Origins and a feature I really love is that you can switch between games currently being played. I have three campaigns going right now with a human noble, magi and a dwarven warrior. I can easily switch characters and play whatever one I want and then there's the awesom online profile you can view.

I didn't want to post in this until I'd given Dragon Age: Origins a try. Now that I have, it has my vote for game of the year. There were some very good games released this year, including Red Faction: Guerrilla and Mirror's Edge. I was hoping that Black Mesa would come out, but unfortunately it didn't make it this year. Overall, though, Dragon Age: Origins takes the cake.

What's Black Mesa? It sounds half life related.
