I recently bought Age of Conan and went to go install it. As soon as the installation would start the system would lock up then go to a BSOD and restart. When it booted back up it told me I had no HD connected, worried a bit there... So after a bit of scrambling around I decided to unconnect the cable connecting it to the mobo and reconnect it, it recognized it again. I have a samsung SP1614C 160gb HD partitioned into two parts for my OS. I just recently tried installing it on the partition with XP on it and it went flawlessly.. only I don't have the space for it.

After a couple tries installing I can't seem to get the BSOD back for the code.. but it gives me an error while installing saying, "An error has occured while trying to create a file in the destination directory. External exception C0000006"

Anyone have any idea what's happening? This reeeeally sucks.

Re: Game installation makes system not recognize HD

Welcome to TSF.

Run the System File Checker:
Click Start >> Run >> Type sfc /scannow (note space after sfc), then click OK.
You may be asked to insert your Windows disc.

Scan the computer for malware.

What do you reccomend using for getting rid of malware? I did the sfc/ scannow and it completed and just closed, nothing really happened.

Re: Game installation makes system not recognize HD

So I downloaded Avira and Malwarebyte's anti-malware and ran those, malware was clean.. avira picked up a couple things and took care of em. Just a little update. Still getting the problem just as before, anyone anyone?

OK, that's good.

Replace the HDDs data cable (SATA or IDE?)

Uninstall the game and delete the game folders (if any left).
Then try reinstalling the game.

Re: Game installation makes system not recognize HD

I doubt this is a hardware problem - more a quirk in the game.
I'm not a gamer, and googling "External exception C0000006" + "Age of Conan" = 0.
Thread moved to Gaming support.
