Frustrated

I have purchased a Toshiba laptop with Windows 7 and all the toys on it. There are 4 other computers in the house all connected to the same DSL connection through Verizon. They all play videos just fine with no choppy playback issues. However, my new laptop will not play any video from start to finish. I turned off my video and hardware accelerators as instructed to insure the computer can download and playback as it sees fit. I think I have been in every nook and cranny of the computer and cannot seem to find out how to correct the problem. I don't feel it can be the modem or the DSL connection because the older machines with less technology are performing just fine. Please help!!
